The Caribbean has long been a destination that offers up a level of luxury and elegance second to none. Resorts bursting with rich history, charm and character are the norm in this sun-soaked and incredibly friendly and welcoming part of the world.
We've picked out a few of our old favourites that, for decades, have been welcoming guests through their doors and providing an unforgettable stay.
EAST WINDS, SAINT LUCIA
Mention East Winds to one of our team and watch their eyes light up; this has long been one of our favourites, a place that just embodies what we love about the Caribbean. The hotel’s repeat rate is phenomenal, with many guests well into double figures.
The generous all-inclusive offering - and in particular the free-flowing Champagne - ensures that there is a real house party atmosphere, and the Friday beach barbecue is not to be missed.
This is not an all-inclusive resort in the conventional sense, with just 30 cottage-style suites and one very good restaurant. We also love the self-service swim-up pool bar, with a recipe book provided so you can mix up your own cocktails.

JAMAICA INN, JAMAICA
Jamaica Inn has been welcoming the great and the good for nearly 70 years, with past guests including Marilyn Monroe, Princess Margaret and Sir Winston Churchill. This wonderful little hotel retains a real old world charm, and the many repeat guests value the sense of peace and tranquillity.
The wonderful staff, some of whom have been working here since the hotel opened in the 1950s, will quickly learn your name and your favourite drink. The elegant suites and cottages are furnished with colonial-era antiques, and instead of a TV you have a private balcony or terrace; the view of the beach and the gently crashing waves is the only show you’ll feel like tuning into.

COCO REEF RESORT & SPA, TOBAGO
They say if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and Coco Reef has been delighting guests with its laid-back approach to luxury for as long as we can remember. Owner and long-time friend of Caribtours, John Jefferis, together with affable general manager Eric Feniet, have hit upon a winning formula here, combining a beguiling beachfront setting with good old fashioned Caribbean hospitality.
The hotel’s private lagoon is fringed by soft white sands, and the traditionally styled rooms are spread amongst ten acres of lush tropical gardens. Repeat clients are greeted by a personalised door plaque hanging outside their room, and Caribtours clients are especially well looked after.

NISBET PLANTATION BEACH CLUB, NEVIS
Nisbet Plantation is steeped in history, originally built as a sugar plantation in 1778 and later the home of Admiral Nelson’s wife, Fanny Nisbet. Nowadays it’s a charming boutique hotel owned by the Dodwell family, who celebrated their 30th anniversary at the helm in 2019.
The hotel is centred around the Great House, the only original plantation house in the Caribbean located directly on a beach, and there are just 36 rooms set in cottages scattered around the impeccably-kept grounds. The croquet lawn and an eclectic collection of antiques add to the hotel’s colonial ambience, and the amiable staff extend a warm welcome to both first-time visitors and the many returning guests.
