OUR Costa Rica SPECIALIST

One of our favourite places in Costa Rica, Playa Cativo’s remote beachfront setting is just magical, and the surrounding gardens and rainforest are home to an astonishing variety of birds, animals and plants.

Sustainability is a key part of Playa Cativo’s ethos, with all electricity generated on-site and most of the food grown at the hotel’s own impressive organic farm.

You must go on one of the guided night time nature walks during your stay - you’ll have the chance to see so many fascinating nocturnal creatures, including Costa Rica’s iconic red-eyed tree frog.

Playa Cativo consistently receives excellent reviews on TripAdvisor - at the time of writing, the lodge had been rated five stars by an incredible 99% of guests.

"‘Elegant, refined and understated’ - these are the words that Coral Reef Club’s many repeat guests use to describe this wonderful family-owned hotel."

"The Thursday night barbecue is out of this world and really shouldn’t be missed - the extraordinary culinary experience is followed by a floor show with limbo dancing and fire eating."

"The cottages here are all named after flowers, fruits and trees found in the hotel’s beautiful gardens - Head Gardener, Lloyd Richards, has worked at the hotel for nearly 30 years and his weekly horticultural tours are a real treat."

"Coral Reef Club is incredibly popular so make sure you book early, especially if you’re planning to visit in February."
