The Seychelles is unequivocally one of the most beautiful parts of the world, its picture-perfect scenery, crystalline waters and unspoilt beaches are the ultimate ingredients for a romantic honeymoon, and don’t just take our word for it – it’s where Prince William and Kate Middleton spent their honeymoon eight years ago!
Our Head of Sales, Rebecca, island hopped around this stunning archipelago for her very own honeymoon...
Having worked for Caribtours for over 15 years, I have been have been fortunate enough to visit some of the most beautiful destinations in the world so when it came to planning my honeymoon, expectations were set very high and I really wanted something that would deliver the wow factor, and so I decided the Seychelles would be perfect for myself and my husband.
We visited in June, which is a great month to travel as many other honeymoon favourites are in the low season. We decided fairly early on that to fully appreciate the region, you shouldn’t stay in just one place - island hopping is the best way to experience everything the Seychelles has to offer.
DENIS PRIVATE ISLAND
We started our trip with a stay at Denis Private Island. This island paradise was completely unspoilt and has a real Robinson Crusoe feel about it - our stunning beach cottage with open-air bathroom was just steps from the powder-soft sand. All rooms come with bicycles, perfect for exploring; we cycled through rainforest, past the island farm and we soon met some of the residents - giant tortoises!
The hotel arranged some magical evenings for us where we had a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach and fun themed evenings which allowed all the guests to interact. We didn’t want to leave but after six blissful nights we flew to Praslin for the next leg of our trip.
RAFFLES SEYCHELLES
Here, we checked into the wonderful Raffles Seychelles which blew me away. We were allocated a stunning Ocean Front Villa complete with private plunge pool and magnificent views of the beach below and the neighbouring islands.
The service here was first class, with frequent beach visits from the staff to offer fruit kebabs, iced lollies, water and even a sunglass cleaning service! The sea is crystal clear so we enjoyed several snorkelling trips where we saw a host of mesmerising sea life, and at the end of the day, we enjoyed a relaxing treatment in the hotel's spa.
Praslin island is a must for exploration, we took our bicycles to Anse Lazio beach one day which is known to be one of the best beaches in the world and also went to the the world-famous Valle De Mai National Park.
LA DIGUE
One day we took the ferry across to the unspoilt island of La Digue, this is such a unique place, where its only forms of transport are bicycle or Ox-cart. Here you can see the traditional Creole houses and enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the many local restaurants – we went to Fish Trap which had the best seafood.
FOUR SEASONS RESORT SEYCHELLES
The last stop on our honeymoon was on the main island of Mahé at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles. This large resort perched on a tropical hilltop is incredible with all 67 treetop villas scattered across the hillside offering breathtaking views of the bay below.
Our villa was spacious and luxurious, with a large private pool - the beach here is so stunning that we spent most of our time there, snorkelling on the coral reef and enjoying lots of water sports. The spa takes centre stage at this resort, it's situated at the highest point on the hilltop with the some of the best sunset views I've ever experienced!
For me, the Seychelles offers something for everyone. The dining is imaginative and first-class and the resorts are unique and individual but equally seem to compliment each other. They all offer something special and every island is different (I felt I only scratched the surface) - it's guaranteed you'll be awe-struck by some of the most stunning beaches in the world. I’m looking forward to celebrating my wedding anniversary here for years to come.
